Women’s Beauty – Choosing The Right Foundation

Working On Your Foundation

Choosing the right foundation is the first step to a flawless make-up result. But finding the best base for your skin type can sometimes feel like searching for the perfect pair of jeans – it needs to fit right, look good, feel comfortable, and most importantly, hide our least favourite bits with ease. Faced with such a tall order, where do we start?

To find a foundation that perfectly matches your skin, a correct estimation of skin type, natural colour and skin tone should be done. Generally, most Caucasian, Latin, African and Asian women have yellow-based skin, thus a yellow based foundation should be chosen. Avoid testing foundations on hands or insides of your wrist but insteadon your jaw line as it provides a closer match to your neck and facial skin tone. Matching under different light settings also gives you a better idea about the correct foundation for your skin. Also, try using a cosmetic sponge to blend your foundation to achieve a smoother and flawless result. I’ve worked my way through a whole heap of brand new formulas to help you on your quest to finding your foundation holy grail. From matte, oil-free, age-defying and hydrating, we’ve got every blemish & wrinkle covered!

1. Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Long Lasting Foundation SPF 15

This make-up innovation offers invisible, weightless coverage that looks like skin, not foundation. Helping to stop midday shine in its tracks, this oil-free foundation locks in moisture and sponge-like powders absorb excess oil. This long-wearing, hydrating foundation also minimises the appearance of pores and conceals imperfections, so all you can see is evenly toned, glowing skin. It goes to show that amazing things really do come in small packages!

2. Estee lauder Resilience Lift Extreme Radiant Lifting Make-up SPF 15

This sophisticated foundation has a touch of superior skincare ingredients offering immediate and long-term effects. Its moisture-rich formula provides all-day hydration, eliminates patchy parched areas and won’t settle into fine lines as it perfects the complexion. It also contains the same lifting technology as Estée Lauder’s #1 anti-ageing moisturiser to help care for your skin, making it more radiant and vibrant like youthful skin.

3. Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Liquid Make-up

What makes this foundation so skin-friendly is that it covers, soothes and helps clear blemish-prone skin. This oil-free makeup also helps blend away bumps and neutralise redness. With ingredients like salicylic acid to treat spots, clear pores and control shine, it is a safe cover-up to conceal problem areas while protecting against future breakouts. Say hello to pimple free skin in no time!

4. Yves Saint Laurent Teint Radiance Foundation SPF 20

This unique fluid foundation gives any dull skin a flattering finish. High in pigment yet feather-light on the skin, this luxurious crème uses light-reflecting particles for brightness and micro-sponges banishes shine. Complete with hyaluronic acid for hydration and SPF 20 for sun protection, this will give your complexion a satiny, natural-looking, and dazzling finish.

5. Revlon PhotoReady Makeup SPF 20

Created in conjunction with Revlon’s Gucci Westman, this foundation uses photocramatic pigments that adapt to different light conditions, giving you flawless, perfectly airbrushed skin every time. A SPF 20 has also been added to the sheer formula for daytime protection. You really don’t need to know rocket science to figure this smart make-up out.
